After visiting the St Willibrord Basilica, I walked back to my hotel room. I left the Nikon D70s in the
hotel and went to Hotel - Restaurant "Le Petit Počle" on the Place du Marché.

Hotel - Restaurant "Le Petit Počle"
I had a nice Wiener Schnitzel with French fries and salad and a nice cold Hoegaarden beer. After that a capuccino
and then I went back to the hotel, got my camera and started sightseeing Echternach.
Echternach is very old. It was already know in the Roman times and in the beginning of the eighth century, st
Willibrord built the church and monastry that would play an important role in Westeuropean christianity over
the next centuries.
In the second World War, Echternach was heavily bombarded and almost destroyed but the citizens of Echternach
with the (financial) help of the Government of Luxembourg have restored the city to its former medieval beauty.

After walking through the old streets of Echternach I came by a bridge over the Sūre that is the border with Germany.
As clearly visible on the picture, it was very wet.

Then I went back into the inner city and found a "Gelateria" or Eiscafé. I like ice very much and
went in to order a big strawberry sorbet.

When the waitress brought me the sorbet, the size of it came as a surprise. It was huge !

After so much sweet, I needed some excersize so I walked to the park at the bank of the river Sūre for
a nice walk.

In the evening, I returned to my hotelroom, watched TV for a while and then went to bed.
And then I realised I did not notice the four phone booths and an ATM on the opposite side of
the street. My bike was parked in the street in front of the hotel and all night long, cars stopped,
doors slammed, people talked loud and cars drove off fast...... I did not sleep very well that night.
